Traveling to satisfy the passion for running? Even on vacation I try to give myself a few hours to devote to running, which sometimes becomes the means by which to discover the cities. Then there are situations in which the race becomes the main reason for the trip, as in the case of participation in international marathons.

Inca Trail Marathon – 3-11 August 2019

“The most difficult marathon in the world” at: 30 km between archaeological ruins, plateaus and breathtaking descents along the pilgrimage path that leads to the legendary “Lost City of the Incas”, Machu Picchu. 9 days of which 2 of actual run: it starts from Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca empire, to an altitude of 3,399 mt. After discovering ancient villages such as Urubamba, Chinchero, Ollanta and Ollantaytamba, we arrive at the entrance to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu to begin athletic training: an acclimatization race and the mate of coca, the typical drink that helps to avoid the altitude-related disorders. The next day the real marathon starts, reaching over 4,000 meters. A great adventure in the history of the Inca civilization, between fortresses and wide views from the high passes, to run up to the sacred city.

Berlino – 29 September 2019

The path is linear and does not present any particular difficulties. A wonderful experience for everyone, ideal for discovering the most important places in the German capital: we start near the Brandenburg Gate, then walk along the Charlottenburg Castle and reach Potsdamer Platz.

Amsterdam – 21 October 2019

Start warming up your legs to face the Amsterdam marathon. The 42 km of the route wind through the most enchanting places of the ‘Venice of the North’: from the Vondelpark park to the Leidseplein square, the Anne Frank House is touched, the characteristic Red Light District is crossed. Without forgetting the splendid landscapes characterized by windmills.

New York – 3 November 2019

Every year thousands of people register for the NYC Marathon, which next November will celebrate the 49th edition: 42 km winding through the five major districts of the city, revealing all its secrets.
