The name Valentina Trepletti tells you something?
For those who do not know, she is an Italian national champion walker on 20km on the road and recently I was lucky enough to meet her as a tester for the new model of Salming running shoes.

Defying the fresh air of a non-sunny morning in Milan, together with a group of enthusiasts and professionals, I walked 5 km on the road wearing Salming’s new EnRoute model, designed to help runners to find and stabilize their stride through the Natural Running Support system.

As soon as I wore them I asked myself whether they were running shoes or slippers because even if new they are are very comfortable, but the precaution of taking a number more than the one normally worn for non-sport shoes remains valid.

The upper part of the shoe, thanks to the Natural Running Support system and the ExoSkeleton structure, helps to support the foot and stabilize it, while providing the necessary reactive pressure.

The design is inspired by Wrap Around concept and is characterized by the presence of three different units assembled together to create a unique welcoming space for the foot, which is at the same time extremely comfortable and very breathable:

  • A thin mesh-like mesh on the outside
  • A slightly thicker network, perforated with holes, to promote the flow of air
  • The Salming’s Exo Skeleton structure between the inner and outer layers, to complete protection and comfort.

The 6mm drop ensures proper cushioning and the flexibility of the sole combined with the lightness of the upper make the shoe very reactive, but I think it is more suitable for running on the city road running than on rough terrain, where more protection and stabilization of the foot are required.

The Salming EnRoute are still optimal for city rides and allow you to keep a fun pace without too much trouble.
Let me know what you think about them!
