Running in San Francisco can be very pleasant and this sport is practiced by many people in the city thanks to the weather, never too hot even in summer, the tranquility, despite being the fourth largest city in California, and its green spaces, really numerous even in the city.
The most beautiful park to run in San Francisco is undoubtedly the Golden Gate Park; unlike the name, it is not located at the foot of the bridge of the same name, but it is a splendid oasis full of paths among flowers, woods and numerous water basins.
If you prefer to run in the shade, your park is instead Lake Merced Park on the banks of the largest lake in the city.
Less peaceful is the green area in front of the Golden Gate Bridge: there is Crissy Field, the classic San Francisco route that all lovers of running should try at least once in their lifetime, and the Presidio Trail Run, dedicated to the most trained because the uphill paths and the many hills make it very challenging.
The Golden Gate Bridge itself is actually very popular for running, but to avoid stumbling into the big crowds of tourists I advise you to avoid the peak hours and the hottest ones.
As an alternative to the parks, you can still run through the streets of the city: on the eastern bay there is Embarcadero, a flat road ideal for a relaxing ride, without forgetting the City Loop, a picturesque route that allows you to admire some of the most characteristic sides of San Francisco stopping from time to time to take some pictures.
Have fun!!
