The technological boom has also invaded the catering sector, as shown by the annual report of the Toast restaurant technology sector, improving its efficiency.

From the use of drones in delivery and service to check-out through apps, restaurants are integrating more and more technological solutions into their activities and in some cases technology becomes part of the experience itself.

Some examples?
Robot. He, a “robotic” fresh fish restaurant located in the Alibaba Hema supermarket in Shanghai. A combination of conveyor belts, a robotic arm and mobile trolleys handle almost all the work of the waiters’ legs, while the software system guides them using QR codes sent by the customer to calculate seats, orders and
payments via the Hema app.

The Hajime Restaurant in Thailand, on the other hand, offers a service entirely managed by waiters, robots and comedians who improvise nice ballets to entertain customers while waiting.

Leaving aside these cases totally focused on technology, we can generally notice an increase in technological tools designed for catering both in the back-end and in the front-end: from waiters drones to hyper-realistic AR menus.
