I had already imagined it during the days spent in Darwin and Kakadu, but in the Red Center I had the confirmation that the Northern Territory region has a charm that knows dreams and adventure, pioneering spirit and nature to discover the ‘Wildest Australia.

Arrived in Alice Springs with the bright lights in the eyes of Sydney, I admit that the town has not left us speechless; However, it has some positive aspects that should not be underestimated as it has many services (for example badly open until late in the evening that allowed us to replace a broken baggage irreparably), accommodation facilities (we have chosen the Desert Palm Resort, restaurants (I particularly recommend the Saltbush inside the Double Tree by Hilton just a few steps from the Desert Palm Resort) and above all it is a good starting point to explore some of the most evocative attractions of Central Australia.

We chose to book a trip with Wayoutback from Backpackerdeals and spend 3 days in the red Australian heart to admire the Uluru-Kata Tuta National Park and Kings Canyon sleeping in tents in some areas equipped in the desert.

Uluru

I tell you from now on that no description can prepare you for the emotion you will feel in seeing the outline of the majestic Uluru, with its incredible chromatic effects and the sense of peace that “The Rock” will give you.
UNESCO World Heritage Site, Uluru is a place of pilgrimage and the whole area covers for the Aboriginal people a fundamental cultural role that you can deepen with the excursion in the Vally of the Wind that you can do with a rangers and an aboriginal representative who will tell you all about the legends at the base of the rock carvings and the main tools used in everyday life by the tribe.

Kata Tjuta

The Kata Tjuta complex is located about 35 km from Uluru and consists of 36 boulders that form deep valleys and ravines with steep walls … a show that I suggest you admire at sunset.

Kings Canyon

Our last day is dedicated to Kings Canyon, an obligatory destination for hiking enthusiasts thanks to the spectacular views that you can admire from the Kings Canyon Rim Walk: a relatively short (6 km) and simple (net of a steep initial climb) that runs along the edge of the canyon until you get to the Garden of Eden, a lush oasis of ferns around a natural pool.

All this, simply, will remain in your heart!
