The big day has finally arrived: 3 months of training took me yesterday to run my first half marathon, even if not competitive.
I do not hide from you that it was not easy to face this path, both from a physical and purely organizational point of view, and required a great deal of effort.
I am not really satisfied in reality, I feel I have not given 100% especially in the last few weeks, due to work commitments that have made the constancy in the training impossible and a knee pain that slowed me down.
Despite this, however, I am happy to have reached the end, so much so that I was already thinking about the next race!
Given this premise, I want to share with you the running paths that I discovered during these 3 months of training and that allowed me to make the training pleasant even in the most difficult moments.
Parco Nord
Parco Nord is a green area of 640 hectares that touches not only the Municipality of Milan, but also that of Bresso, Cusano Milanino, Cormano, Cinisello Balsamo and Sesto San Giovanni.
It stands out for the impeccable care of the natural landscape and for the noteworthy cleanliness that make the place pleasant and soothing.
The “Nord” is characterized by a magnificent variety of sports equipment of different kinds, some of which are unique at the metropolitan level.
The running route is divided into two parts (one of 10 km and one of 5) which describe as many rings in the east part; the end does not coincide with the beginning and is situated, however, a few tens of meters away from the start. Ideal for all training intensities.
La Biblioteca degli Alberi
The park certainly more new and metropolitan, among the skyscrapers of the center at the foot of the Vertical Forest.
The Tree Library is the third largest park in the center of Milan that gives a nod to outdoor sports enthusiasts. Its fitness area, in fact, is one of the most modern and complete in the city.
The paths, being straight and quite spacious, are also ideal for those who want to enjoy a jog in one of the most scenic places in the city. The real highlight of the Tree Library, however, is its fitness area, which is a sort of life path characterized by a ring shape.
Idroscalo
My favorite. Running at Idroscalo, especially when sunset is approaching, is an experience that every Milan runner should try. Because of the water, the beach and the forest, the scenery appears suggestive and anomalous for those who are used to training in the gray city. The track, marked with signs every 200 meters, is 6.7 kilometers long and has four entry points. The route is mixed (paved and unpaved) and has numerous points to quench your thirst.
Parco Sempione
The “Sempione” always has its charm and is the largest enclosed park in Milan with 386 thousand square meters of video surveillance. Training in front of the Arco della Pace and the Sforzesco Castle from the back, passing next to the Ponte delle Sirenette on the pond, is an extra incentive for any sports lover.
A paradise for runners who decide to train in one of the most beautiful places in the city.
Keep running!
