The new Mountain Racer by Topo Athletic accompanied me to Peru, where I was able to test them on different occasions and paths, which I will talk about in detail soon.
Aesthetically very similar to Ultraventure, the Mountain Racer are characterized by the unique fit and comfort, reserving space at the tip with a large toe box. The fingers can thus lean, open and stimulate the muscular activation of the kinetic chain to encourage instinctive movement.
The shoes has a drop of 5 mm, with a height from the ground of 30/25 mm, to allow a more stable and neutral support and movements at natural speeds. The EVA midsole injected with 3 different densities has a greater strength than that of Ultraventure, thus allow foot activation in the run.
The exclusive design of the Vibram® MegaGrip sole ensures excellent traction both on dry and wet surfaces, as well as a perfect mix between grip and durability and an excellent balance between stability and flexibility on any type of terrain.
The rip-stop mesh, which helps to maintain the weight of the contained footwear, makes the upper particularly light, characterized by a printed covering. The shoe also offers a secure fit through a more enveloping “race” tongue and quick drying thanks to the medial and lateral drainage ports for complete water release. The Ortholite®antimicrobial and antibacterial footbed resists compression, helping to increase comfort.
