Refined, artistic, dynamic and cosmopolitan, Melbourne was the real surprise of this long trip to Australia. The city you do not expect.
Australian capital of culture and sport, over 230 streets will take you to the heart of the city to discover the true essence of narrow alleys that overflow with restaurants, international street art works and heterogeneous neighborhoods that are an integral part of its distinctive character.
Sport is a fundamental element in the life of locals, fans of football, cricket and horse racing, while tennis and Formula 1 attract groups of visitors and fans from all over the world.
The best of Melbourne: city …
Entrusting us as in the case of Sydney to the local guides of I’m Free in a few hours we had a taste of the best of the city: Federation Square, Melbourne’s Laneways, the impressive Street Art, Flinders St Station, Yarra River, Eureka Tower, Chinatown, Princess Theater with numerous legends related to this place, State Parliament of Victoria, Royal Exhibition Center and Carlton Garden.
All this without forgetting the “lifestyle” aspect like the hidden bar scene (very popular here as well as in Sydney, and the real coffee culture.
… and surroundings
Just over an hour’s drive from Melbourne is the legendary Great Ocean Road. We have traveled in full from Cape Jervis but even if your stay includes only the city of Melbourne I suggest you rent the car for a day and do not miss this stretch of road that will take you to see one of the most unforgettable sunsets of your life reaching the 12 Apostles.
Unfortunately, I spent only one very intense day in Melbourne, which allowed me to remain enchanted by the uniqueness and character of this city in southern Australia.
Again, one more reason to come back!
