The first image I have of Las Vegas is the top view of the city in the heart of the desert in a domestic flight from San Diego. I remember the amazement from the skyline of the famous hotel and the lights that began to turn on at sunset: from a modern New York design to a fantasy style of hotel like the Excalibur, through reconstructions of famous cities such as Venice and Paris and ending with the ancient Egyptian pyramids and sphinxes of Luxor.
However, if you think that Las Vegas is only the capital for gambling, shopping and shows (although I admit I had succumbed to their charm) you will be surprised to find that the city also has a lot to offer to the geek souls, enough to be the home of CES, the largest annual event dedicated to technology and the latest innovations that takes place every January.
Here is my selection for you: geek destinations in Las Vegas.
- Pinball Hall of Fame for the nostalgic of the vintage, the museum is home to the historical patterns of the game.
- Neon Museum. Could Las Vegas miss a museum dedicated to the old neon signs that have shaped the history of the city??
- National Atomic Testing Museum, the history of nuclear tests carried out in the desert north of Las Vegas in the ’50s.
- CSI Experience at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, to relive a crime scene in true CSI style. I personally believe that I get scared, but I admit to be a unique experience.
- Dig This, to learn how to operate a digger machine with a theory and a practice session.
