Functional training is the 2019 trend: targeting strong and toned muscles to better deal with any discipline and achieve the perfect balance between body and mind. Personally I practice it on alternate days compared to running in the months in which I don’t prepare particularly demanding races and I can assure you that the benefits on a physical level are considerable, so here are the courses that I can recommend.

Reformer Pilates

As the name suggests, it is Pilates that takes place with the reformer, a machine that models every single muscle thanks to a sequence of choreographed movements. The benefits for running I see them mainly in terms of muscle lengthening of the legs, but it also strengthens the back, shoulders and arms.

Punch

This is a functional Boxing workout, consisting of intense interval training of boxing techniques in pairs or in pairs alternating with a functional workout with the use of small tools or free body. This course strengthens the muscles of the legs, arms and abdominals and the high intensity strengthens the breath.
