My last weekend in Barcelona was full of sport and fun, with a touch of relax on the beach. I also took advantage of having visited the city several times to discover more unusual and perhaps less touristy destinations, such as District 22: the most geeky neighborhood in the city … but let’s proceed with order!

Let’s start by saying that Barcelona is a unique city: overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is the vital and cultural center of Catalonia and thanks to its mild climate throughout the year and its infectious energy is a destination really suitable for everyone.

Barcelona is above all an open-air museum of the works of Antonio Gaudì, if you are sporty I suggest you take advantage of the many sunny days to discover the most beautiful architectural works of Gaudì running. For example, I left Piazza Catalunya and through the very elegant Passeig de Gracia I admired from outside Casa Battlò and Casa Milà (known as La Pedrera) up to the majestic Sagrada Familla.

Through Avenida Diagonal, I reached District 22 of Barcelona. Surely you already have seen some images of the Agbar tower, but believe me that seeing it up close will give you a whole new perspective and you can admire the façade studied in detail to contain heat loss in winter and favor summer ventilation, thanks to its adjustable slats.

Other structures that you can admire during your race are the kinetic facade of the Media-Tic and in general the old industrial buildings recovered and transformed into museums.

IMG_3728After all this culture, and these kilometers, I could not resist and I collected the last energy to reach Barceloneta and spend a pleasant afternoon at the beach.

Where will be your next trip?
