I’ve already talked about the safety of the connection networks on vacation thanks to Avira, but today I want to take a step back and talk about security in the euphoria where we spend our holidays online!

On the web, it is very easy to find good deals even after the start date, but let us not forget that on these occasions you have to pay attention to the use of our sensitive data.

To avoid falling into hackers traps, I take the simple advice shared by Sophos to safely book our favorite destination and enjoy only the best of our trip.

  • Avoid clicking on links in unsolicited online messages, such as email, Twitter, or Facebook. Spammers and hackers resort to social engineering techniques such as bait to induce users to visit fraudulent or infected websites.
  • Disclosing sensitive data such as personal or financial information only when you are absolutely certain of the legitimacy of the purchase.
  • Read all clauses. Sometimes the conditions indicate unexpected costs and obligations.
  • Purchase only through websites that use encryption. URLs that start with “https: //” instead of “http: //” encrypt the information during the transfer. Another indicator of a website that uses encryption is the padlock icon displayed on the Internet browser.
  • Minimize the amount of personal data you provide. Leave the fields not mandatory.
  • Check out bank statements. Regularly check your current account transactions, especially after purchasing over the Internet, to verify that all paid payments are legitimate.
  • Keep a copy of orders and receipts in paper or electronic format.

Do not you think cyber-criminals are going to vacation really?
